I'm starting to pack to my next trip, what means a checklist and a few ours of research on internet.
To help you to don't forget anything, here a checklist of thing you should do to avoid "surprises" in your trip:
- Change the money before you go. Usually the exchange it's cheaper in the city than at the airport. So at least two weeks before look for good exchange prices in your city.
- Search what is the best option to leave the airport of your destination to the city centre. If you are traveling by train, you don't need to do that, as most of the Central Train stations are in the city centre and connected to the metro.
- Do a research of how the transport system works, it changes from country to country how you have to use your metro pass, for example. Or there are some coutries that you can just pay the bus with the bus card or coins.
- Do a list of essential things you need to take with you, don't take to much, especially if you love to buy things when you travel.
- If you have friends or families that live in your destination, ask them one month ago if they want you to bring something from your place. Believe me, at the last week they decide to ask you things and it's just when you don't have time to look for it.
- Check the weather and the kind of clothes you need to take with you.
- A universal plug-in is very useful especially if you go to other country.
- Multi plugs are very useful at airports as well. As the plug-ins are alway busy.
- Take a copy of your passaport with you, and it's good to have one in your email as well.
- Put your address wrote in a paper. Your luggage can be lost.
- If you don't have a credit card, make a travel money card. It's very useful for emergencies. Make sure you know how to transfer the money online, it's not a good idea try to learn when you are needing it.
- If you are going to a long trip, take a returnable bag with you, unless you want to buy a new one.
- Shoes for rain it's always a good idea.
- Make a travel insurance. Emergencies can happen.
- If you are student, take your stundent card with you. It's always good to have discounts.
- If you are not an european citizen, ask for tax free while you are buying stuff and take the money of the taxes back when you leave Europe.
- If you want to buy something at your destination, do a little research first. You can do better deals and find the best places to shop.
- Do at least a quick tour guide, and make sure you won't miss the best of your destination. You can find some suggestions here on this blog. :)
- Check if you need a visa to go to the coutry of destination.
- Last but not least, don't make to many plans, it's better to travel to relax. And not being concert about the thousand things that you have to do in a specific day. Have fun!
